For Runners Everywhere...

I need some advice please! Believe it or not, I was once an avid runner back in the day-the high school days that is. Actually I was pretty obsessed since I always felt guilty if I missed a day of running. Cross-country and track had my goals in place. 10 years later...

Let's just say that this month has been HARD. Mainly physically but in other ways as well. We moved, got sick, started school, got sick some more, Brooks went to MawMaw's house all day without me, and got sick some more. Basically I have stayed sick for a month! Allergies, colds, with a good dose of stress and emotional heartache from leaving my boy.

Anyways, the sicker I get, the more caffeine I drink and the more sugar I eat to get me through the day. Thus, I feel wonderfully horrible when I get home from work.

So, I have decided to start running again. For not only my sake but for my husband's as well. I'm sure he's tired of catching my colds. So the immune system needs a big boost and soon!! I have so many dedicated friends who run and I am so impressed that I really want to join. The only trouble is WHEN??? When do I run...at 5:3o every morning, 9:00 at night? after school when my energy is at its lowest and I need a major snack? Keep in mind to that Ben will start basketball season soon and there goes the evening babysitter.

So, please if you don't mind, let me in on your secret because I know everyone is as busy as I am! I would truly appreciate your advice and so would my poor unhealthy out of shape body!

  1. Hey Brooklyn! First off I miss getting to talk to you! About the running thing, I just started back as well b/c if I didn't I was on a fast track to gaining a WHOLE bunch of weight. Anyways...I have found it easist for me to run between 7:30 and 8 pm b/c Austin is at home and he will give Lane his bath while I am running. However, his busy season is about to start in Oct., so I will probably start running right after school before I pick up Lane. I am not an early riser/early runner so the 5:30 in the morning thing is out the door! LOL Good Luck and let me know how it goes. Love ya!

  2. I just got a treadmill. I know you are wanting to run outside probably, but that is always an option. Then Brooks can just play in the room while you run/walk.

  3. When I use to wake up very early to exercise, that would set the rest of my day for me. IT was very hard, no doubt, getting up early, but it definitely made me feel so much better throughout the day. I am trying to get myself back into shape and running/cardio is one of the best ways to do it. I would also love to run in some 5K's. We should get a group of girls together to do it.

  4. I would love to run together. I was running in the morning this summer but I stopped once I went back to school. Now, I am running a few nights a week in the evenings. I am not a fan of running in the dark but that's about to happen since it's getting darker earlier and earlier. For me, the best time is after I put Parker to sleep.
